The Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT)

The Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) is a specialized court in India that handles cases related to the recovery of debts and financial disputes. DRTs were established under the Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993 (RDDBFI Act), which was enacted to facilitate the speedy recovery of debts due to banks and financial institutions.

We offer initial consultations to assess the client's case, review relevant documents, and provide legal advice on the best course of action for debt recovery.

We prepare and strategize the case by gathering evidence, analyzing financial records, and formulating a legal strategy tailored to the specific circumstances of the debt recovery matter.

We represent clients in DRT proceedings by filing petitions, applications, and other necessary legal documents on behalf of the creditor or lender.

We negotiate with debtors or their legal representatives to reach a settlement agreement that satisfies the client's interests while minimizing costs and risks associated with litigation.

We advocate on behalf of our clients in DRT hearings and trials, presenting evidence, cross-examining witnesses, and making legal arguments to support the creditor's claim for debt recovery.

In cases where DRT issues orders in favor of the creditor, We assist in enforcing these orders through various legal mechanisms, such as garnishment of wages, attachment of property, or initiation of insolvency proceedings.

If dissatisfied with the outcome of the DRT proceedings, We can advise clients on the possibility of filing appeals or seeking other legal remedies to challenge adverse decisions or errors of law.

We ensure compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines in DRT cases, as well as proper documentation of all legal transactions and communications related to debt recovery efforts.

Apart from representing clients in litigation, We also provide advisory services on debt recovery strategies, risk management, debt restructuring, and other related matters to help clients mitigate future financial risks.
